Managing Your Membership
Your membership status page, reached through your user account area, is where you can manage your membership. If you've never been a member, the page shows links explaining the different membership types, a choice of payment schedule for your dues and controls to pick the membership type.
Once you're a member, the status page shows your membership type, when it started, the current period - which reflects the schedule you chose - and your status. You can see your current payment method and update it, change your membership, or cancel, all from here.
Changing your membership type brings up an to pick a different schedule or a different membership. A few rules: changes take effect immediately. If the change increases your dues you're charged right away. If it decreases them, your account is credited so future contributions are covered.
You can cancel at any time with the cancel button, which opens a short survey. We really do read those, so if something's wrong let us know before you cancel and we'll try our best to make it right. Pick your reasons, add any details, click to cancel, and confirm - you'll then see the date your membership ends. Cancellation is reversible: there's a button to keep your membership.
You can change your membership payment method from this page too - open the dropdown, choose Add a New Payment Method, enter the details, and click to update. The new method then shows as the one on file.
One of the most common reasons people update a payment method is an expired or lost card that's left their dues overdue. If your membership is past due you lose access to parts of the site and you'll see an icon indicating it. Updating your payment method doesn't immediately pay the overdue amount - the payment processor retries automatically over the next few days. If you want your access back right away, there's a link that opens a page where you can pay the outstanding invoice with your new method and regain access immediately.

Welcome everybody. In this video, we are going to go over how to manage your membership from your user account area. If you're interested in learning how to join, we have a separate video for that, so I'll make sure that that's linked as related content. That video also goes over what we're going to do here, but it's much longer. So this is just simply about managing your membership. To access your membership status page where you would manage your membership, you would need to go to your user account area.

So you can use this link in the top navigation to do that, and then this link in the navigation for membership. If you're on a mobile device, this menu will be hidden. You can tap something to reveal it. And once you click Membership, you'll be brought here to your membership status page. So this is what it will look like if you've never been a member. You can see that we have these links here if you're interested in learning more about the different membership types and what you would prefer. And when it comes to your membership dues, you can choose your payment schedule.

So you can do every month, every six months, or every year, whichever works best for you. And you can select the membership type by using these controls here. We do accept cards or bank accounts. If you would like to use a bank account, we suggest going to your user account area and adding that separately. Here where it says Payment Dashboard is where you would do that. We will have separate instructions for that. We're not going to go over that here.

But once you've added it, you can select your bank account from here. For the purposes of this, we are just going to add a card and use that. So you can add your information and click Submit. It'll ask you to confirm your intent, and there you go. So once you click that, it'll process the payment, and then it will refresh the page, and you'll be able to see your membership details here.

On your membership status page here, you can see things like your membership type, when it started, the current period, which is a reflection of whatever schedule you chose for your membership dues. So like we said, that could be a month, six months, or a year, as well as your membership status. So this means that your membership is active. You can see your current payment method, and you can do things like update that, change your membership, or cancel your membership at any time.

At any time during your membership, you can choose to change your membership type. So if you click this button, it'll bring up the same interface that you saw when you were creating your membership. So you can choose a different payment schedule if you would like, or you could just choose a different membership. And whenever you do this, there are some rules to remember here. So updates will take effect immediately. If your change results in increased payments, so if you move from, for example, Awakened to Sojourner membership, it's going to charge you immediately.

If you downgrade or if it results in less dues, what's going to happen is your account will be credited. So say you were a Master member and you paid $44 and you decide to go down to an Awakened member, what would happen is you would have $33 on account. So you would have the next three months of membership that would already be prepaid for. And you can then use this button here and click that and it will update your membership for you.

And if we scroll up a bit here, you can now see that you have a membership history as well. So past memberships, past membership types, you can see that here. I'm just messing around. So we've got a start time and an end time. So information on your current membership as well as your past memberships will be available on this page. You can cancel your membership at any time.

So you can use this button right here, click that and it'll bring up this thing to cancel your membership. It's kind of a little survey. We're always interested in what we're doing right and what we're doing wrong, so please do fill out any information if you're canceling your membership. We really take it to heart. Honestly, before you cancel your membership, let us know if there's something you like or something you don't like, and we will try our best to accommodate for everybody.

So when you're ready, you can choose these things, whatever it is. You can type in some information and then just click this button to cancel your membership. And click OK. And so here you go. So now you can see also that your membership is going to end on September 23rd right there. And in addition to being able to cancel, you can choose to keep it. So it is reversible. You can always just click this button, and that will make sure that your membership doesn't cancel at the end of the current period.

If you ever need to change your payment method for your membership, you can do that right from this page as well. So in this dropdown, you can open that and select Add a New Payment Method, and it will open up this interface here, and you can click and add in new payment information and then click this button here to update your payment method. It will show up here, and so there. Now your new payment method will be the one that you just entered.

One of the most frequent reasons that people need to update a payment method is because their card, maybe it expired, maybe they lost it, and what happened is that their membership dues are overdue. So if your membership is past due, you won't be able to access everything that you can on the website, and you'll see an icon like this. And once you update your payment method, it won't automatically pay your past due membership. Our payment processor does this automatically.

In a few days, it'll try, retry, with the new payment method. But if you want your access immediately, what you can do is you can use this link right here, and this will open up a page where you can pay that outstanding invoice and immediately regain your access. So you'll see something like this, and you can use that payment method that you just added to pay and regain your access right away.
